After a high-speed chase, Madea lands herself in jail, and the film shows how her family rallies behind her to show their support and help her find freedom again. Just like his previous films, Perry’s Madea Goes to Jail began as a play and became a major motion picture in 2009. Madea makes a cameo appearance in the film. It tells the story of a single mom in Chicago who goes to Atlanta for her father’s funeral and meets an eccentric family she never knew she had. The 2008 film Meet the Browns was also based on a play by Perry.
